At On The Nose Productions, our mission is to be a one-stop-shop for all aspects of creative development, video and film production, post-production, and distribution strategies. As a full-service production outfit we are committed to delivering innovative solutions on every project we undertake.

Driven by a team of passionate creatives, each with a unique style and vision, we thrive on collaboration and diversity of thought. Our emphasis on building the production team around the client’s needs ensures that every project receives specialized attention and expert consultation.

Our Story

We're a team of filmmakers who met studying in Prague, the heart of European film, attending the joint NYU/FAMU 35mm program. There, we collaborated on 13 short films, over the span of a month. With the creation of On The Nose, we've continued to work together, bringing our individual talents and fresh ideas to every project.

Meet our Directors

  • Samantha Schofield

    Founding Partner – Director of Production Producer/Editor

    Producer, Samantha Schofield received her BFA in Film and Television Production with a minor in Producing from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. During her time at NYU, she also studied abroad at FAMU in Prague, producing 13 short films shot on 35mm film. After working as a Programming Coordinator for Vice TV she has started producing full time for her company On The Nose Productions.

  • Aukai Elkaslasy

    Founding Partner – Board Director Director/DP/Editor/Producer

    Director, Aukai "El Casallas” Elkaslasy graduated from Middlebury College with a double major in Political Science and Film and Media Studies with a minor in Luso-Hispanic Studies. His approach to film begins with a mutual commitment with his subject to tell their most authentic story together. After graduating, Aukai launched On The Nose Productions and has been busy making films ever since.

  • Ava Burka

    Founding Partner – Director of Sound Design Director/Sound Engineer/Editor/Producer/Actor

    Ava Burka is a Brooklyn based Director known for her short films featured in cities like Washington DC, New York, London, and Prague. An NYU Tisch Film & TV alumna, she excels both behind and in front of the camera, specializing in coming-of-age stories that explore identity and relationships. Presently, Ava is immersed in the post-production process for her recently shot evocative short film, "Ma Sestra."

  • Terry Wang

    Founding Partner – Co-Director of Camera/G&E Director/DP

    Terry Wang is a writer, director, producer who has just finished his studies at NYU Tisch with a major in Film & Television Production and a minor in Business, Entertainment, Media & Technology. Before pursuing film, Terry studied Psychology, which has had a profound impact on his filmmaking approach that focuses on exploring authentic human relationships.

  • Hudson Carter

    Founding Partner – Co-Director of Camera/G&E DP/Editor

    Hudson Carter is a New York City based Director of Photography. Originating from Utah, Hudson moved to New York City to pursue his dreams of filmmaking. After graduating from NYU’s Tisch Undergraduate Film & Television Production program, Hudson now works on various productions of all types. Recently, he has enjoyed his work in the electrical and grip department on Saturday Night Live’s 49th season. As a cinematographer, Hudson is dedicated to creating visual art that supports and enhances the story of the project he is working on.

  • Oliviero Plazzi Marzotto

    Founding Partner – Director of European Office Director/DP/Producer

    Oliviero Plazzi Marzotto, an Italian writer, producer, and director based in Rome, began his career as an actor, studying at the New York Film Academy and NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He specializes in creating character-driven stories and works closely with actors. During the pandemic, he developed a unique style of psychological thrillers focused on isolation and is currently creating a trilogy, with the first two installments already completed.
